Retailers started their fight back against the trading recession
on 8 August when they gathered at Hilton Hall, Staffordshire to
launch the UK programme of Global Clearance Sales.
The spectacular garden party brought retailers, wholesalers and
manufacturers together to hear about the opening sales being held
at NEC Birmingham on 26 September, followed by ExCel London on 10
October.
Guests of the garden party were able to learn more about the
Global Clearance Sales whilst enjoying the expansive grounds of
Hilton Hall and being entertained by Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the
Pacemakers.
Organised by Stock Liquidators and Associates of Europe, the
concept was initially developed by Managing Director Peter Sherratt
in the 1980s, when he organised a highly successful programme of
sales around the UK.
Peter Sherratt said: "The time is now right to bring back
this successful model. The recession has hit retailers hard and
finding customers is now a real challenge for even the biggest
businesses. We want to help retailers to survive this financial
crisis by bringing them a high volume of customers over a one day
event, all looking to buy well priced goods."
Chairman of the company, Sir Bernard Zissman, added: "The
stock clearances of the 1980s attracted huge crowds looking for a
bargain and helped struggling retailers to clear stock, improve
cash flow and attract loyal customers who would not normally visit
their shops. Thirty years on, retailers are finding themselves in
one of the deepest recessions in history. However, customers are
still spending and
Global Clearance Sales give a special opportunity to all
traders, especially smaller businesses to come together under one
roof and compete against the major High Street names."
Following the success of this first party, a second launch will
take place on Sunday 15 August where singer-impressionist Joe
Longthorne will perform his amazing act which includes the voices
of Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra.
At each garden party, businesses are able to reserve space for
the first event to be held on 26th September at the NEC in
Birmingham. Only traders will be admitted. To apply for an
