First Personnel have donated £10,000 to Acorn's Children's
Hospice to help fund their 10km Midnight Walk. And they are hoping
to raise thousands more before the end of the year as part of their
ongoing support for the charity.
The Midlands based recruitment specialists are the official
sponsor of the Midnight Walk, which will see up to 2,000 women
walking a 10km route around Birmingham City Centre on 11th
September to raise money for children with life threatening
conditions.
Over the last 30 years, First Personnel has been donating five
percent of its annual profits to local charities which so far has
totalled over £2 million. This year it has chosen to support
Acorns and over the last few months, staff at their 12 branches
have been busy raising money from all sorts of events, including
running half marathons and car boot sales.
Matthew Reddy, managing director of First Personnel commented:
"We are delighted to have raised £10,000 to help fund Acorns'
Midnight Walk as it is such a fantastic charity, providing free
care and support to children and their families across the region.
We know that some charities can find it tough in this economic
climate and, thanks to our company's success, we are glad to be
able to help.
"As well as sponsoring the event, lots of our female staff are
taking part in the Midnight Walk and several of our male employees
are volunteering as marshals and helpers on the night."
First Personnel's head office is based in Walsall and they have
branches across the Midlands. Every year they find people thousands
of temporary, contract and permanent positions across many
industries, from LGV drivers and warehouse operatives to
secretaries and sales staff.
Kerrie Davies, events manager at Acorns, added: "On behalf of
Acorns, I would like to thank First Personnel for sponsoring this
year's Midnight Walk. Their support has given the event a great
head start this year and we are hopeful that the event will raise
over £100,000 of much needed income to support local children
with life limiting conditions and their families."
