Criminal-law firm associate Matt Goode and his 14-year old son
Maxwell are hoping to skate to victory and raise £1000 for
charity when they take part in the Goodwood Charity Skate this
weekend (8th August 2010).
The pair will join more than 500 roller-skating fundraisers at
Goodwood Motor Circuit on Sunday, where they hope to complete the
marathon leg of the annual fundraiser to raise sponsorship funds
for the NSPCC and The Tiny Babies Big Appeal, operated by the
Birmingham Women's NHS Foundation Trust.
Matt, a highly regarded senior criminal associate, is head of
the specialist Criminal Defence team in the East Midlands at
regional law firm Challinors, which has offices in Colwick,
Nottingham.
He explains: "I used to enjoy roller skating when I was a child.
My interest was reignited at a roller skating children's party last
year and the hobby became something fun for me to do with my
children. A friend and I hatched the idea of roller skating for
charity and Maxwell was soon on board. We've been training as much
as possible, using the circuit from Nottingham's Trent Bridge to
the suspension bridge!
"Maxwell and I are very excited about the race and my 8-year old
daughter Eben is also taking part, hoping to complete the half
marathon distance."
Matt, who is married to Lesley and lives in Long Eaton, is
well-known for his work on some of Nottingham's most high profile
criminal law cases. He recently took-up the senior appointment at
Challinors to run the firm's criminal defence team at Nottingham.
Ghulam Sohail, a Partner at Challinors, says: "Matt is already
acting in a number of high value fraud cases contracted by the LSC
and also in relation to an investigation by the SFO.
"Challinors' criminal defence team is on call seven days a week
and is embracing the challenge of delivering a credible alternative
to the legal providers in the Nottingham market."
He adds: "Challinors is delighted to have such an excellent
lawyer on board, and one who can roller skate too!"
