Lincoln based catering business shows all the right signs

Double M event catering in Lincoln is enjoying the sweet taste of success after its new-look mobile catering units were selected to supply food and drink at two of York Racecourse's biggest meets of the year.

Proprietor Gary Burnett had to present the units, which have recently been given a facelift by Allen Signs, to CGC Events who manage the catering requirements for a number of Yorkshire racecourses. They in turn presented them to the Chief Executive and Clerk of the Course at York, William Derby.

Gary explained: "Mr Derby seemed very impressed by the appearance of our new units and offered  Double M the opportunity to supply additional events at York Racecourse.

"I've been in the mobile catering business for over 10 years and it's great to get this kind of feedback. We work closely with CGC Events and our units can also be seen at Pontefract, Beverly, Nottingham, Ripon and Market Rasen racecourses as well as at events such as the Lincolnshire Show, Grapevine 2010 and the V Festival."

Allen Signs' vehicle livery team redesigned three of the company's trailers, which are up to 24 feet in length, using brightly coloured vinyl wrapping and eye-catching graphics to improve their appearance and make them stand out from the crowd.

The Lincoln-based signmaking and vehicle livery specialist is a member of the British Sign Association and one of only two approved 3M Local Vehicle Wrappers in the East Midlands.

"Before we wrapped the vehicles they just looked like traditional catering trailers, so we completely redesigned them to improve their visual appeal and reflect the high-quality service Double M provides," explained David.

"Gary had been to the Showman's Show, which is an outdoor events services exhibition, and come back with some really good ideas which we developed and worked up into the final designs. We only had three days to turn the job around so it's testament to the hard work of my staff that we managed to get the work completed on time."

Gary added: "Catering units used to be very old-fashioned but the industry has moved with the times and these days people's expectations are a lot higher. The quality and presentation of both the vans and the food is paramount to our success.

"At Double M we're proud of the food we produce and now we're proud of our vans. Allen Signs has been signwriting our catering units for over ten years and I'm delighted with this latest project to smarten up three of our trailers.

"We will shortly be rebranding a fourth trailer along with our catering facilities at Lincoln City's FC's Sincil Bank stadium, to bring them into line with our new look.

"This year has been exceptionally busy for us and having our vans wrapped has certainly helped us secure more work; we're booked up until mid-October!"
