Derby based housing provider Derwent Living is offering free
swimming lessons for local children as part of a large scale
community cohesion project.
Children aged between four and 15 years of age who live at
Varsity Grange, Mickleover, will be able to take advantage of the
free lessons, which will take place between the 16 and 20 August at
Lonsdale Pool.
The free swimming lessons initiative is part of the
organisation's summer diversionary activities programme, which is
being rolled out across the Midlands and aims to make sure children
enjoy themselves, stay safe and learn new skills during the school
break.
Mitch Allseybrook, community development manager at Derwent
Living, said: "The free swimming lessons form part of the community
involvement work we are doing up at Mickleover. It's a chance
for local kids to learn to swim or improve their swimming and
should be a fun and worthwhile activity. "
