Ms Gao Jin Ning, editor of China's Business Travel magazine, toured the city to experience its offering for business visitors both inside and outside of the conference hall.

The four-day visit included  tours of top hotels including the Radisson Blu, Birmingham Marriott Hotel and the Hyatt alongside interviews with representatives from the ICC and Birmingham International Airport. Ms Ning also enjoyed a walking tour of the city including some of its art galleries as well a tour and meal at Wing Yip, hosted by Director Sammy Yap.

The trip is due to be published in the magazine, which has a readership of 200,000 and targets event organisers looking for events and conferencing locations across the world.

Neil Rami, Chief Executive of Marketing Birmingham, the hosts of the visit, says: "International businesses recognise Birmingham as a great stepping stone to Europe due to its position at the heart of the UK transport network and connectivity to Europe.  By inviting international media to experience the city for themselves, we have the opportunity to raise awareness of Birmingham as a global meeting place as well as highlight the varied leisure offering that delegates can enjoy when they do business here."

Ms Gao Jin Ning, editor of Business Travel magazine (China), comments on her visit: "My visit to Birmingham has given me firsthand experience of the city and its people. I've been able to visit some key venues and experience some of the diverse range of activities business visitors can enjoy. This is particularly useful when it comes to major trade shows such as the Spring Fair at The NEC which attracts many Chinese businesses. Birmingham has a great business and leisure offering and it's all on the doorstep, meaning Chinese visitors won't need to travel far to experience everything the city has to offer."

Wing Yip Director, Sammy Yap says: "We were delighted to host Ms Gao for a tour of our flagship Superstore and Business Centre at Nechells. As the UK's leading Oriental grocer, we were pleased to demonstrate how Wing Yip supports the local Chinese community and Oriental food enthusiasts by providing quality authentic produce to both consumers and the catering trade."
