South Worcestershire-based Churchfields Farmhouse Ice Cream is thrilled to have become the preferred ice cream supplier to the Urban Coffee Company after weeks of intensive sample tasting by the young, dynamic coffee connoisseurs.

Award-winning Churchfields is famous for its innovative flavours including its Seriously Stilton ice cream which has won a string of regional food awards. The company will now be adding a customised Urban Coffee Bean Espresso flavour to its product range which will be sold throughout the Urban Coffee Company's retail Emporiums.

The Urban Coffee Company's success story is as an interesting one as its founders Amir Belkhelladi and Simon Jenner had been in the IT business for over a decade, and knew nothing about retailing coffee. However what they did know, having spent a lot of time in London and enjoyed some great independent coffee shops, they struggled to find a decent cup of coffee in other parts of the UK.

So unhappy with the quality of coffee on the average high street, the two aspiring coffee connoisseurs, decided to become coffee entrepreneurs and the Urban Coffee Company was engendered. Despite launching it at the very peak of the UK's 2008/2009 recession, the brand is gaining much consumer recognition and commercial success.

Mr Jenner said:"We're really pleased that we have chosen Churchfields as our supplier, their ice cream is absolutely delicious because they don't over whip it which means you get a much more creamy and luxurious texture.  It literally comes straight from their herd of pedigree cows into the production facility.

"It is important to us that they are a local supplier as small enterprises should always support similar businesses in the locality from a sustainability and ethical perspective. Using local suppliers in our supply chain is contributing to the economic growth of the Midlands region as well as reducing the Urban Coffee Company's carbon foot print."

Gillian Kerton, proprietor of Churchfields Farmhouse Ice Cream, who manages the production facility at the family owned dairy is delighted to be linked with such an up and coming brand as the Urban Coffee Company and says. "We are very excited about the launch of the customised Urban Coffee Espresso Bean flavour. Unlike our larger competitors we can be extremely agile in responding to customer demands as our ice cream is made in relatively small batches.

"Amir and Simon are entrepreneurs in the true sense as they have identified a real void in the regional market place and I think the Urban Coffee Company will go from strength to strength as the consumer is becoming far more discerning in taste and the quest for a really quality cup of coffee."
