West Midlands hosts the CLA Game Fair

This weekend sees the coming together of the world's largest countryside event which will open at Ragley Hall, Alcester on Friday. Over 900 exhibition stands, hundreds of events, displays, championships, competitions, features, visitor caravan park and car parks will colour 500 acres of the Estate.

Amongst the 140,000 visitors who will flock to the show will be Ministers and celebrities as well as it being the annual pilgrimage for enthusiasts from all corners of the globe.

Costing £3m plus to stage, there have been over 1,000 contractors to build the show, six miles of pipes laid, 4 miles of fencing, 20 miles of cabling and 4.5 miles (55,000 sq m) of tentage erected by The Game Fair organisers and a further 2 miles of tentage erected by exhibitors bringing their own.

During the show almost half a million gallons of water will be used, 60,000 litres of diesel and 50 generators providing enough power to service 1,600 family homes  Visitors will be able to enjoy the 11 bars, 4 restaurants, 6 hospitality suites, 3 champagne bars, 20 ice cream vans and 70 mobile catering units.

In the members enclosure alone 500 bottles of champagne and 6,200 pints of Pimms will be drunk along with 450 dressed crab at lunchtime and 8,000 rashers of bacon at breakfast.

The CLA Game Fair was last held in the West Midlands in the 60s.  However, it has now grown to be the biggest roaming show held in the UK and having it back in this region will have an economic benefit of £13million through the spend made in the area leading up to and over the show days.

Kicking off the summer holidays this is an event for all ages to enjoy whether the interest is all  the have-a-go features, the shopping or simply being a part of this amazing event.

The CLA Game Fair 2010 is on between 23rd-25th July at Ragley Hall, Alcester, Warwickshire.
