The Peak District & Derbyshire's growing reputation as a
quality destination for business and ideal conference location is
spreading far and wide thanks to the success of a second
fact-finding tour for travel and events organisers from across the
UK.
Delegates on a recent familiarization trip organized by
Conference Derbyshire were impressed by the wide range of
accommodation, attractions and venues available for business
tourism across the area and among their positive comments were:
• First-class trip, including all the highlights of the
region and helping us get to know the area very well. I would
feel confident booking colleagues into any of the places we
visited, knowing they would be well looked after.
• An extremely well organised tour, showing Derby,
Derbyshire and the Peak District at their best. I am planning to
use two of the venues for events in the coming year.
• A good mix of styles and types of locations and
venues.
• Chatsworth is the jewel in Derbyshire's crown - I am
looking to organise an event there.
• Breadsall Priory looked fantastic and it would be great
if we could return to see it in more detail.
• I enjoyed seeing all the different areas, and of course
Alton Towers!
Representatives serving the needs of both national and
international customers stayed at the Alton Towers Resort Hotel in
Staffordshire and Jurys Inn in Derby, as well as visiting the
Cathedral Quarter Hotel and Hallmark Hotel in Derby and Marriott
Breadsall Priory Hotel near Derby.
They also visited Alton Towers theme park and Chatsworth and
took part in a treasure hunt taking in key venues around Derby as
part of the tour, co-ordinated by Conference Derbyshire, business
tourism arm of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, the area's
official tourist board.
"This tour was a very encouraging follow-up to our first one
earlier in the year, and introduced delegates to even more reasons
why they should choose the Peak District, Derbyshire and the city
of Derby for a variety of business events and conferences," said
David James, Chief Executive of the tourist board.
"Once again their reaction to what the area has to offer echoed
earlier comments that we blend the very best elements of both city
and countryside in a convenient location, right at the heart of the
UK.
"It also confirms our belief that we can meet their needs
whatever they may be - from a small business meeting to a
large-scale conference, thanks to our wealth of quality-assured
accommodation and award-winning venues.
"Excellent transport links, helpful, knowledgeable staff - all
amid some of the most stunning scenery and fascinating heritage in
the country - complete the impressive package that we can offer.
And it's good to see that several of the delegates taking part are
already making plans to bring business to the area in the
future."
