Fraser Brown Solicitors has been awarded Grade 1 (Outstanding)
status for its licensing training by the BIIAB, the professional
body for the licensed retail sector.
The accreditation came after a BIIAB assessment of the firm's
training facilities and procedures, which showed excellence in all
areas from administration and bookings to providing good
examination conditions with independent invigilators.
Candidates taking their licensing examinations with Fraser Brown
can also be reassured that they have a particularly high chance of
success, as this year the firm boasts a 100% pass rate with every
single candidate passing first time. Since the firm starting
running the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence
Holders course three years ago it has provided training for
national names such as The Fat Cat Group, Admiral Taverns and
Castle Rock Brewery. Solicitors from Fraser Brown also work with
the BIIAB to conduct the NCLP courses, specifically designed for
licensing and gambling practitioners.
Joanne Soar, a senior executive within the Licensing department
and one of the approved trainers for the course, said,
"Anyone working in a senior position in licensed premises is
required to have this qualification, so it is vital that they pass
as quickly as possible. We understand this which is why, as long as
the required examinations conditions are met, we will travel
anywhere in the country to carry out the training and also aim
never to cancel a course. We know how difficult it can be for those
working in licensed premises to get time away and this is a way to
work around that."
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence
holders is a nationally recognised qualification required by anyone
authorising the supply of alcohol in licensed premises. Courses are
held in Nottingham on the second Tuesday of every month and
elsewhere in the country by arrangement. Each day long session
covers all aspects of the law and social responsibilities in
relation to the sale of alcohol to the public and includes a
multiple choice examination that is marked externally by the BIIAB.
The NCLP courses are held periodically during the year.
