David Fowkes put on his running shoes to take part in the
Birmingham Insurance Institute annual run for charity, and raised
the highest amount by any individual.
With a matching sum from Legal and General where David is a
pricing manager, he was able to give £1,000 to Marie Curie
Cancer Care and received a special award sponsored by chartered
loss adjusters and claims specialists QuestGates.
The final total of cash raised for the charity from the 5k and
10k runs is not yet known but is expected to top £5,000.
Peter Maskell, president of the Birmingham Insurance Institute
and chief executive of nationwide healthcare provider BHSF which
sponsored the event, said: "David's effort in raising so much cash
for such a worthy charity, was fantastic.
"This was the third event of its kind organised by the BII Young
Members Committee and we are hoping to beat last year's total
of over £5,000".
