East of England-based accountancy firm Moore Thompson recently had cause to celebrate when it was ranked as one of the UK's top 100 practices for the second year running by a leading professional journal.

After making its debut in the list, published by Accountancy Age magazine, in 2009, Moore Thompson remained in the top 100 this year at number 88 - the same position as before.

Crucially, the firm also managed to increase its fee income over the past year at a time when many of its contemporaries on the list had seen theirs fall.

Hundreds of firms participated in the in-depth analysis of the accounting profession, which looked at factors including growth, annual fee income and the fees generated by each partner.

Managing partner Mark Hildred said: "We were delighted to appear on this list for the first time last year and are equally pleased to have maintained our position for 2010.

"It is a tribute to the hard work of all the staff here who have continued to focus on providing the best possible service for our clients, despite the difficult economic climate we have encountered.

"I'm confident we will continue to build on our success and become a regular fixture in the top 100 over the coming years."
