Leicestershire and Rutland Society of Architects (LRSA) has
appointed its youngest ever President, 34 year old Tom Hart.
Tom, who is an associate at Leicester-based architects rg+p, has
been an RIBA member for nearly 10 years and will hold his seat as
LRSA President for the next two years.
Tom said of his Presidency: "The profession has had a difficult
time recently and I would like to use my time in office to promote
a number of aspects, for example architecture and education within
Leicestershire's Universities and Colleges; architecture as part of
the wider design industry and encouraging participation in industry
awards to showcase the fantastic buildings completed and in
progress in the region.
"I also want to provide more value to our members by using the
LRSA website as a tool to showcase up-and-coming projects and to
use this as a platform to exchange, discuss and generate ideas and
information."
As a full time associate at rg+p, one of the region's leading,
multidisciplinary practises specialising in Architecture, Project
Management and Quantity Surveying, Tom is thrilled that he can rely
on the support, knowledge and enthusiasm of Bill Smedley, rg+p's
managing director, who was previously the youngest ever President
of the LRSA between 1999 and 2001.
LRSA is a regional branch society of the Royal Institute of
British Architects (RIBA) and provides a point of contact for
members and the public about architecture in the East
Midlands.
