Care Companions Ltd, a company providing a range of care
services for the elderly and adults with dementia or learning
difficulties, is to deliver a free 'Carer Awareness Training
Course' in Sutton Coldfield on Wednesday 14th July.
There are an estimated 6 million carers in the UK who provide
unpaid care to ill, frail or disabled family members or friends.
If you are an employer who has frontline staff then the chances
are your staff come into regular contact with carers. Obvious
examples include customer facing staff at GP practices, dental
surgeries, opticians and chiropractors, whilst staff in banks,
supermarkets, travel agents, retail etc., will all come into
contact with carers.
The course has been designed to help employees who deal with the
public, to understand and be more familiar with the issues relating
to carers and their needs.
Sushila Patel from Sutton Coldfield based Care Companions Ltd
commented: "As a company we recognise the valuable role which
unpaid carers have and we are keen to raise awareness of their
varying and diverse needs amongst employees who come into contact
with carers".
Skills for Care developed the learning resources and
commissioned Care Companions as one of only three organisations
within the West Midlands to pilot and evaluate the training prior
to its national launch.
The course is to be held at Care Companions' offices which are
located on 38a High Street, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1UP.
Registration is at 0900 with the course running between 9:30
am and 12:30 pm on Wednesday 14th July. Refreshments will be
provided.
If you are interested in attending then it is advisable to book
your place immediately as places are limited and will be allocated
on a first come basis.

attending".
