As Warwickshire County Cricket Club embarks on the most exciting
chapter of its history following the commencement of the £32m
redevelopment of its iconic Edgbaston stadium, Craig Flindall is
welcomed to the Club in the newly created position of finance
director.
Craig, 33, who lives in Solihull, joins the Club from the
Corporate Finance practice at Ernst and Young in Birmingham having
previously also worked for KPMG in the City. During his time with
the top four accountancy firm, Craig worked closely with
Edgbaston's senior management team to raise the financial package
required to regenerate the ground.
A Birmingham University graduate, Craig is an avid cricket fan
and it was his enthusiasm for the sport coupled with his financial
expertise and strong networks within the Birmingham business
community, which made him an ideal candidate for the role.
Commenting on his appointment, Craig said: "This is a great
opportunity for me to combine my professional expertise and love of
cricket. I know from my time working with the Club previously that
the plans to develop the business and the ground are ambitious but
absolutely essential in order to maintain Edgbaston's status as a
leading international cricket venue. As a Birmingham resident and a
regular visitor to Edgbaston over the last 15 years I am very keen
to see the Club succeed and look forward to the challenges ahead.
Post development, Edgbaston will have a fantastic offering, not
only for loyal WCCC fans, but international cricket followers,
families, corporates and conference and banqueting clients, too."
Colin Povey, chief executive of WCCC, added: "As the business of
the Club continues to grow and the redevelopment of Edgbaston
becomes a reality, I am delighted that we have been able to recruit
a high-calibre individual for this new role. Craig has worked with
us previously as part of the EY team that helped the Club produce
its Master Plan Business Plan in support of the redevelopment of
the ground. He joins the game and the Club at a fascinating time
and I am sure he will be a valuable addition to the business. To
support the business going forward we have made a number of key
appointments to the team, including a new head of non-match day
sales earlier in the spring and Helen Clarke who has just been
appointed as the new Head of Ticketing.
"In addition to the redevelopment of our ground, which will
include the construction of a new stand and will increase seating
capacity by 4,000, we will also be unveiling a new media centre and
banqueting suite as part of the £32m planned works, next
summer. More imminently, we have announced a milestone sponsorship
deal with Jaguar and a number of unique premium membership packages
all at the same time as our twenty20 series ran and one lucky
spectator won £10,000!"
