A Derby company has stepped in to help turn a couple's dream of
creating a website where friends and families can record and share
their life stories, into a reality.
Silver Pride Software, which is based at Stadium Business Court
on Pride Park, has developed a bespoke software package for
SaveEveryStep.com, a new social networking site that allows people
to create an interactive timeline of their life.
The brainchild of Helen and Bob Spencer from Nottingham,
SaveEveryStep.com is a new concept designed for building life
stories online and sharing them with friends, relatives and the
wider world on an interactive timeline. The couple had the idea for
the website a few years ago, but it was only realised when their
graphic designer recommended them to Silver Pride Software.
The contents of the website, including photos, documents and
videos, are stored securely online, where they'll never get faded,
damaged or lost. Each story is then laid out on a 'LifeLine', the
scrollable timeline that is at the heart of the website. Life
stories are set out the way they happened - step by step, as a
journey through the years.
Pictures, scanned documents and text can flesh out the story and
can be linked to the LifeLines of friends 'family, and even
signposted with major world events. Security settings allow fine
tuning for granting access to whoever the user wants to see the
various elements in their story - from named visitors only, right
through to the whole world.
The launch of the website has been marked with the excavation of
a giant footprint in the sand at Scarborough's South Bay Beach.
The release of this new and innovative social networking
platform comes just months after Silver Pride launched its SPARK
Web Management Suite of Business Solutions. The company has worked
tirelessly to develop the website from the original concept to meet
the creators' very specific requirements.
Commenting on the new website, Helen Spencer said: "I would
like to thank Silver Pride Software for helping us to realise what
we had been planning for some years and creating a website that is
right on brief. They have been extremely helpful and professional
throughout the process of designing and building the website.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the finished website and are so
pleased that they have managed to turn quite complex idea into such
a user-friendly site," added Helen.
Graham Till, director of Silver Pride added: "When Helen
and Bob came to us with their idea we knew they were on to
something exciting and it has been a real pleasure to work with
them on this project. We offer a social website building tool
within our SPARK Web Management Suite of Business Solutions, but
the unique format of SaveEveryStep required us to develop an
entirely bespoke solution for them."
