EMA Business and Management Consultancy has formed a strategic
alliance with Cord, a charity that works to restore community
facilities and peace in countries affected by war.
Both organisations are based in Leamington Spa but operate on
larger stages, EMA nationally and Cord internationally. The
alliance will see EMA sponsoring Cord's supporters' newsletter and
a number of fundraising events but also working to share learning
and networking contacts between the two organisations.
Brian Wakley, Cord's Chief Executive, said: "Around 85% of the
people who work for Cord are based out in the field in places such
as Chad, Burundi and Cambodia. Not surprisingly, this presents its
own logistical, language and cultural challenges which we are good
at managing but there is always more to learn, which is why we are
so pleased to be working with EMA.
"Aside from the very welcome financial support we hope to be
able to benefit from their considerable knowledge and experience in
HR related matters. This will help us to ensure we have the right
people in the right roles and that we are maximising their
potential to make a difference in some of the world's most
conflict-damaged communities."
Anne Elliott, EMA's Managing Director, who founded the company
in 2007, said: "The work that Cord does in some of the most
war-torn parts of the world is simply awe-inspiring and we are very
happy to support them.
"EMA has had an extremely busy and successful first three years,
having grown to a team of 14 people and now working with over 230
clients nationally, including many housing associations, local
authorities and charities.
"This alliance is not just about giving something back but also
infusing our own people with an understanding of the way an
organisation like Cord works across borders and boundaries,
restoring facilities and hope in places that are not actually that
far away geographically, but a million miles in terms of our own
life experiences.
"It's already proving a fascinating and energising relationship
and we are very pleased to be working with them in this way."
