A local accountancy firm is encouraging businesses and consumers
across Shropshire to come together and support each other as part
of a new campaign aimed at beating the recession.
Shrewsbury-based TaxAssist Accountants has launched its 'Buy
Local' scheme, an initiative set up to help smaller businesses in
the county tackle the negative impact of the current economic
climate.
The campaign hopes to encourage local firms and the general
public to purchase goods and services from sources close by, rather
than using suppliers from other regions across the UK, and further
afield.
Members of staff from TaxAssist Accountants have been visiting a
number of businesses in the area to promote the wealth of expertise
offered by local companies, and have been providing them with
branded window stickers to help publicise the scheme and its
message.
Nigel Lomax, owner and director of TaxAssist Accountants in
Shrewsbury, commented: "Whilst being part of a national network, we
are very much a small local business in our own right and, as part
of the community, we always look to trade with other local
businesses.
"Shropshire has so much to offer, with its vast array of unique,
professional and quality enterprises across a diverse range of
sectors, from floristry and recruitment, to law and design.
"It is absolutely vital that we support each other, particularly
during these continued difficult times, so that we can work
together to build our local economy and ensure that we as a county
grow and prosper."
TaxAssist Accountants is the largest network of accountants in
the UK who focus their accountancy skills specifically on small
businesses and taxpayers.
