Some of the region's leading public and private sector
healthcare organisations have pledged to work closer together in
delivering the government's vision of greater community based
services for vulnerable adults.
That was one of the key outcomes following a recent networking
roundtable organised by specialist healthcare law firm Browne
Jacobson.
The roundtable was aimed at bringing together key stakeholders
to explore potential commercial opportunities and gain a better
understanding of each others roles in delivering care packages for
vulnerable adults that guarantee choice, excellence and value for
money.
The event was attended by regional healthcare commissioners,
public & private health care providers, funders and
professional advisers including Staffordshire County Council,
Mimosa Healthcare Group, Royal Bank of Scotland, HICA Life
Developments Limited, Eden Supported Housing, Assisted Living
Solutions, Derby City Council, NHS Stoke on Trent, NHS Nottingham
City, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, South Staffordshire
Primary Care Trust and Nottingham City Council.
Oliver Pritchard, Head of the Private Social Care Team at Browne
Jacobson, said: "The government is keen to see as many
vulnerable adults as possible receive care and support to live
within the community rather than in an institutional setting, but
with so many stakeholders involved major challenges exist in
commissioning and operating these very bespoke types of
services.
"The key is to be able to deliver complex care packages within a
safe community environment that meet the needs of service users and
their families, within a framework which is attractive to
commercial investors, funders and developers.
"Browne Jacobson advises PCTs, local authorities, private sector
and third sector service providers, funders and regulatory bodies
within the health and social care sectors and so we are uniquely
placed to stage such an event.
"The event proved hugely successful in attracting many of the
region's major players in this sector. I would hope we have played
some part in facilitating collaborative working between the many
public and private sectors organisations involved in delivering
quality care for the vulnerable in the region."
