Stormsaver, the UK market leader in rainwater harvesting
systems, based in Winkburn, is getting behind Defra's water-saving
campaign and has pledged to run workshops for its employees and
their families on how to become water-wise and to reduce water
usage both at work and in their homes.
It is also fronting a twitter campaign (@stormsaver) to
encourage Nottinghamshire residents to save water and become
water-wise.
Taking place between 12-18 June 2010, Water Saving Week aims to
encourage people to think twice about the amount of water they
use.
Lisa Farnsworth, director of Stormsaver said: "It is staggering
the amount of water which is wasted on a daily basis. Research
shows that average UK consumption is 150 litres of water per person
per day and about one third of this is wasted!
"We want to help people understand that we all need to play a
role in saving water.
"For the past seven years, we have been on a mission to make the
world more eco-friendly. We actively try to encourage people to
save and recycle water and try to showcase the benefits of
rainwater harvesting. These include a reduction in use of mains
water and therefore lower bills and a kinder solution for the
environment."
Sharron Kent (36), from Nottingham, said: "We all know that we
need to do our bit to help save the environment, but it is often
difficult to know where to start. I think it is particularly
important to educate our children, and so have been spending time,
with the help of Stormsaver's educational resources, teaching them
about the importance of collecting rainwater and reducing the
amount of water they use."
Stormsaver, through its rainwater harvesting products, have
helped the UK save over 10 billion litres of water; enough to fill
over 12,500,000 baths or run 6,451,613 washing machines.
Michael Farnsworth, director of Stormsaver, will be available
for Q&A sessions throughout the week.
