A new enterprise with the aim of mentoring and supporting young
people in Nottingham who are in danger of making poor choices in
relation to drugs, alcohol, sex and education has been launched by
'Vivant Mentoring Community Interest Company'.
The enterprise which has been established as a not for profit
'community interest company' is the brainchild of Anthony Aduhene
and Viv Oliver who together identified that certain groups of
teenagers in Nottingham are becoming attracted by and drawn to
involvement in gangs and are opting out of the education system.
Often they have little parental support and few positive role
models.
The Vivant Mentoring team work alongside such teenagers, often
at the request of local schools for whom these teenagers present a
problem and where the schools don't have the time or resources to
address the issues. The Vivant Mentoring team help on a one-to-one
basis by listening to the teenagers and encouraging them to make
improved choices about their lives. Over the last two months the
team has been working successfully with the Djanogaly City Academy
which has been very impressed with the results with their
students.
Vivant Mentoring Community Interest Company was set up by the
charity team at Beeston based solicitors Ellis-Fermor & Negus.
Partner and Commercial solicitor Simon Hale commented "Community
interest companies are quite rare but in this case the founders
were keen the enterprise should operate for the benefit of the
community rather than for the benefit of the owners of the
company." Ellis-Fermor & Negus have offices in Long Eaton,
Beeston and Ripley. As well as offering legal services to
businesses and charities, they also specialise in Family law,
Conveyancing, Wills & Estate administration and Accident
claims.
