Midlands-based Bigwood has been short-listed for the auctioneer
agency of the year honour.
It is among 25 from the sector nominated to be part of the
Negotiator Awards 2010 Auctioneer Academy.
The Negotiator is a leading publication for estate agents.
Its Residential Auctioneer Award goes to the most admired
auctioneer agency of the year.
It is decided on peer selection.
Senior industry figures, including Rory Daly, managing director
of Bigwood, are asked to rank the list - up to three additional
firms can be added.
Naturally, no-one is allowed to vote for their own firm.
A spokesman for the Negotiator stated: "The list is based on
extensive industry feedback. Each firm has proved resilient during
the market downturn, or has excelled in one way or another over the
last year.
"We are looking for a combination of good business performance;
excellent leadership; adaptability to the current market; and
innovation."
Mr Daly said: "It is a great honour to even be on the short list
for these prestigious awards.
"Not only are we the leading auction house in the Midlands but
we are also one of the largest auction houses outside London.
"Our auctions always attract several hundred people and at our
last one we had a 70 per cent conversion rate. We are always
looking at ways of taking our performance to new levels."
