support that travelled to Wales with them
A group of intrepid surveyors have recently completed one of the
most gruelling 24 hour challenges in the UK. Ten volunteers from
Fisher German's Ashby de la Zouch office were recruited to take
part in the Welsh 3000's to raise money for Help for Heroes,
supporting service men and women who have been injured in the
course of duty.
The challenge required them to climb all fifteen peaks which
stand over 3,000 feet in the Snowdon range. Their journey began at
3.00am from the summit of Crib Goch which stands in the shadow of
Mount Snowdon. From here they travelled for approximately 30 miles
over the rugged Welsh mountains, tackling unpredictable terrain and
climbing conditions.
The team, although unsure of what weather they were to face at
such high altitudes were pleasantly surprised to experience quite
favourable conditions. At times, blustery conditions and heavy mist
did its best to dampen their spirits, but with it being relatively
dry under foot, the team were all able to succeed.
Andrew Bridge, one of the surveyors taking part commented, "It
was one of the most physically demanding things that I have
undertaken. The team worked really hard and kept each other going,
despite the physical turmoil our bodies were going through.
"The main driving force was to raise as much money as possible
for Help for Heroes. We have raised well over a thousand pounds for
the cause and I think it could reach several thousand more".
The team completed the course in the excellent time of 17 hours
and 58 minutes, which paid testament to all of the hard work and
effort that went into the training. All proceeds from the walk will
go to Help for Heroes, helping to rehabilitate and care for those
service personnel who have been in injured in conflict or on duty.
