The last 24 months have been challenging to say the least, with
many businesses across all industries facing decline and even
closure as the UK starts to emerge from the sharpest financial
downturn ever seen.
While the commercial property market may not be out of the woods
completely, the Nottingham office of national consultancy, Lambert
Smith Hampton (LSH), is bucking this market trend by expanding its
team when many others are downsizing.
Julian Healey, Head of LSH's Nottingham office and National Head
of Asset and Property Management, explained: "The occupational and
investment markets are beginning to show signs of improvement,
albeit slowly and for prime stock. However, with a shortage of
Grade A stock, particularly in Nottingham city centre, landlords
are keen to ensure their properties remain attractive to potential
tenants and investors.
"In our experience, pro-active property management is central to
such strategies; not only can it improve the way property is
utilised and reduce overheads by as much as 15-20%, it can also
help to maintain healthy tenant relations and, more importantly,
cash flow. As such, we see it as of utmost importance to our
clients and therefore a core part of our business over the coming
months and years as we move further into economic recovery, which
is why we have chosen to strengthen our team with two new
recruits."
Liam Hawes has been appointed as a Senior Surveyor, specialising
in day-to-day property management, including rent collection, lease
administration, facilities and service charge management, for
clients owning multi-property portfolios.
Liam is a Chartered Surveyor and joins from Hodgson Elkington in
Lincoln, where he worked for five years. During this time he was
responsible for the management of large-scale industrial estates,
shopping centres and offices across the East Midlands on behalf of
both local and national landlords.
Describing his appointment, Liam said: "This is a great move for
me both in terms of joining a leading firm in the region as well as
in the professional challenges and opportunities that the job will
provide. I'm looking forward to working closely with Julian and the
rest of the team at LSH."
Continuing its expansion, LSH has appointed Ryan Fairfield as a
Graduate Surveyor to its Asset and Property Management team. Ryan,
a recent graduate of Nottingham Trent University, will now embark
on a training programme for his Assessment of Professional
Competence (APC).
LSH's Property Management team is one of the most revered in the
region and currently has over two million sq ft of property under
management across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with a rent roll
of £12 million.
Julian added: "The Property Management team in Nottingham is
continuing to grow at a healthy rate across all sectors. Liam's
appointment bolsters our team, giving us a 23-strong presence
across the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire market and allowing us to
continue to provide our growing portfolio of clients with the
highest level of resource and expertise."
