Visitors to the new Shropshire County Show will be able to
experience fine dining using the region's best ingredients and
prepared by top county chefs, organisers revealed today.
The agricultural show, which will take place at the Berwick Road
showground in Shrewsbury on June 26 and 27, is expected to attract
around 20,000 visitors and a lucky few will get to taste the wares
at the chef's table.
The experience will offer visitors a relaxed area to dine on
dishes influenced by some of the region's finest chefs - all
selected by Shropshire-based foodie James Day, of Gourmet Life
Dining Club and Eat-the-midlands.co.uk food website.
He said: "We are very privileged to be asked to help support the
Shropshire County Show with our popular 'Chefs Table' Restaurant
concept.
"Everything on the menu from meats, to smoked chicken, to
vegetables and even the water will be from Shropshire and the
Marches. With the vast range of excellent quality suppliers in our
region, we have been spoilt for choice."
The Chefs Table will be in a dedicated marquee next to the Food
Hall, which will this year host many of the producers supplying the
menu.
James added: "We will keep the operations very simple so diners
can enjoy fresh, quality local produce, but served quickly,
enabling them to help themselves from a wide range of freshly
prepared main courses served 'buffet' style, for just £10 for
as much as they like, and for those with a little extra space or a
sweet tooth, we will also offer local puds, coffees and teas for
just £5."

Dishes will be created in association with some of James'
Gourmet Life member chefs, and overseen by the team from the Lion
Hotel in Shrewsbury.
Mary Hopkins, General Manager of the Shropshire County Show,
said: "The show theme of gate to plate will be clearly seen across
the showground and the chef's table is a perfect example of the
'plate'.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome the region's finest chefs
to the show and know that the lucky people who get to eat at the
chef's table will take away an experience to remember."
Gourmet life dining club members can also enjoy 20 per cent off
the food bill on the day.
Eight spaces in the restaurant will be given away to people who
register their interest and preferred dining time on the
website.
