Owners and directors of companies with their roots in innovation
can take a step-by-step, practical look at the life cycle of how to
turn a brilliant idea into reality and profit, at a one-off
briefing seminar hosted by lawyers at Nottingham firm Berryman.
The 'Concept to Completion' free breakfast event, on Wednesday
16th June, brings together speakers Ed Wright a partner and head of
Berryman's Technology, Media and Telecommunications team, Steve
Rudkin, Director of Business Initiation Group, (BIG), and Nick
Fox-Male of patenting agency Patent Outsourcing.
"The session will deliver a practical and interactive
introduction to the steps SMEs and OMBs can and should take to make
their concept and 'big idea' reality," explains Ed Wright. "Whether
they are in manufacturing and production, or emerging technologies
such as life sciences or biotech, the session will address the
greatest challenges they may face when striving to see their
concept become reality.
"It is often difficult to know where to go for help, advice,
support and funding to ensure success and profit, so this session
and panel of speakers has been put together to address this,"
explains Ed Wright. "To illustrate the steps from protecting the
intellectual property of the idea or concept, maximising its
commercial potential to ensure success, to the grants and funding
available to enable this, the session will use an actual case study
- where the company received a Grant for £100,000 from emda
to support of its research plans."
As Steve Rudkin of BIG points out: "Smaller enterprises are
often at a disadvantage to the larger corporates when it comes to
the financial backing and access to funding for conceptual ideas,
but there are funding schemes available to achieve and support
exactly this" he will also explain how his most recent client - BM
Catalysts benefitted from a Grant for Business Investment of
£550,000 from emda to support its expansion plans."
By following the steps we will pinpoint in this session,
businesses will be able to maximise their chances of accessing and
securing this financial support.
BIG is offering a free half day grant search consultancy to one
delegate, to be drawn at random on the day.
