Five members of GVA Grimley's Birmingham office have jumped into
the saddle to take on the Tour de LDC cycling challenge from Lands
End of John O' Groats to raise money for children's charity
Friendship Works this month.
The tour, which began at Lands End on Saturday 5th June, will
take over two weeks to complete and comprises seven gruelling legs
over the 15 days until reaching the finish line at John O'Groats on
Saturday 19th June.
The GVA Grimley team comprises Carl Potter, Andrew Rogers,
Martin Patrick, Barry Riley and George Jennings, who himself is no
stranger to cycling challenges after completing the tour in its
entirety last year. Together they will be completing the 1,100 mile
feat, each undertaking legs throughout the course. The Birmingham
office represents the largest of the teams to form the national GVA
Grimley tour effort, with five other members joining the journey
from the other regional offices across the UK.
Carl Potter, director and head of national offices at GVA
Grimley, said: "We've all been training really hard for the tour,
taking every spare moment to get into shape ready for the miles
ahead of us.
"The support we have received so far from friends, colleagues
and family has been great but we're really gunning for more
donations for Friendship Works, which supports vulnerable children
from underprivileged families. All support, big or small, will
really make a difference to helping its team continue to make a
difference to so many lives across the region. It's going to be a
tough few weeks but the rewards for the charity and sense of
achievement from the team will make it all worth it I'm sure!"
