GVA Grimley's Birmingham office has advised on the purchase of a 13-acre site (5.35 hectares) at Cannock Wood Industrial Estate for automotive re-manufacturer ATP Industries Group.

Following the sale of its existing Hednesford site at Cannock Chase to St. Modwen earlier this year, the manufacturer is relocating to the nearby site of the former Marshalls Plc concrete manufacturing plant, where an existing 47,000 sq ft building will be modernised and new additional facilities of around 50,000 sq ft will be purpose built over the coming year.

After more than 27 years at Victoria Street, Hednesford, the relocation will allow ATP Industries Group to extend its operation, whilst remaining in the Cannock region where the business has grown over the last 40 years.

Alan Smart, chairman and chief executive at ATP Industries Group, said: "The purchase provides us with a perfect opportunity to relocate and improve our operations, whilst retaining our specialist workforce that live in and around the Cannock area.

"Since its inception in 1969, we have built ATP Industries Group out of the region into an incredibly successful global company. The relocation is set to benefit not only our current and future clients, but also our highly skilled existing and future workforce that will grow with the business throughout the remainder of the 21st century within the new premises.

"After officially receiving the keys from former owner Marshalls Plc this week, we are very excited about getting work started on site and, as a local company committed to the prosperity of the region, we will also endeavour to source local contractors to carry out the work over the next year where possible."

GVA Grimley advised ATP Industries Group throughout, including negotiating the sale of its existing site in Hednesford to St. Modwen and the acquisition of the new site at Cannock Wood Industrial Estate. Midland's based Webb Gray & Partners has been appointed as the architect.

Paul Brewer, retail director at GVA Grimley, said: "Since negotiating the sale of the Victoria Street site on behalf of ATP Industries Group to St. Modwen back in March, we have been working hard to meet the company's bespoke requirements and find a site that would allow the build of new modern premises of the required size.

"It was important to the client to find a location that would allow the valued labour force to be retained. Acquiring the Cannock Wood Industrial Estate site for ATP Industries Group provides them with the ideal base for their new premises."
