The drpdigitalmedia team have hosted a day of fun and activities
for children with complex learning needs at the Wyre Forest Go Ape
facility.
The event, held last week, saw the digital media team work
closely with the Sunfield charity to create an exciting and
enjoyable day for the children who benefit from their charitable
work. The event was organised as part of the group's 30th
anniversary challenges, running throughout the year, which intend
to benefit worthy causes and charities close to the business.
The Sunfield charity is committed to developing the abilities of
each child they work with so that he or she may come to experience
life as much as possible. Through their work, they aim to give
those they work with the skills to live as independently as
possible, to be included in their community as far as they are
able, to have as rich a quality of life as possible, to maintain
their integrity as individuals in their own right and to progress
educationally to their maximum potential.
The day itself saw the digital media team aiding the children
through the exhilarating Go Ape course, climbing through trees,
negotiating high wires, descending zip wires and completing the
many challenges the exciting facility had to offer. Ensuring the
children were safe and secure at all times, the team and the
Sunfield carers worked together to provide an experience for the
children they would not normally have the chance to be a part of.
Following the day's activities, the children and carers returned to
the drpgroup's Greensleeves facility for an outdoor barbeque. Here,
the drpteam, who had been photographing the event, presented the
children with their own photo album for them to take home as a
record of the day.
Ben Wallace, director of drpdigitalmedia who led the team on the
day commented, "It was fantastic for my team to help the group
complete its 30 CSR challenges, but much more than that, it was
extremely rewarding to support Sunfield and the amazing work they
do. I was amazed and quite touched at how my team worked to help
the children enjoy the day as much as they did and I have huge
respect for the Sunfield team and what they achieve for these
incredible individuals."
Sunfiled's exercise development co-ordinator Richard Bidwell
attended the event with the Sunfield children and thanked the
drpteam for hosting the day.
He said: "On behalf of all the students and staff from Sunfield
that attended the Go Ape trip yesterday we would like to thank all
at the drpgroup for putting the day together. It gave our students
the opportunity to experience an activity that many of them would
not usually gain access to. It allowed several students to push
themselves out of their comfort zones and the sense of achievement
they felt at the end of the day will go a long way towards
increasing their self confidence and willingness to attempt new
activities in the future. Everybody enjoyed the day and the
fantastic experience."
