A Warwickshire based company is leading the way in renewable
energy installations after gaining Microgeneration Certification
Scheme (MCS) accreditation.
The award means that CD Electrical, based at the Centenary
Business Centre in Nuneaton, is a recognised installer of solar
panels and other microgeneration products.
Chris Dodd, managing director of CD Electrical, said: "Although
solar panelling is a relatively new technology in the UK, people
are starting to recognise the benefits of having it installed. We
have no doubt that solar panels and other microgeneration products
will be big business in two to five years time - one of our
suppliers already has a backlog of more than 200 orders."
Solar panels work by harnessing energy from the sun and
converting it into an electrical source which can be used in the
home and fed back into the national grid.
Chris explained: "Although solar panels are an investment - they
cost about £6,000 to install - they'll earn you about
£500 to £700 a year in savings, effectively paying
themselves off in six to ten years and earning you money after
that. The panels themselves are guaranteed for 25 years so the
benefits will only increase with time."
Until recently, CD Electrical focused its attention solely on
electric installations in corporate and private premises.
"Although we'll be carrying on with our traditional electrical
work, we're excited to receive MCS accreditation - we're currently
the only ones in the area who have it."
CD Electrical moved into the Warwickshire County Council-owned
Centenary Business Centre, based on the Attleborough Fields Estate
in Nuneaton, two years ago and has seen an increase in enquiries
since then. Previous work includes corporate electrical work at
Velvet nightclub in Nuneaton and private installations for film
director Robert Morgan.
