Coventry and Warwickshire law firm Alsters Kelley has raised in
excess of £2,000 for Zoe's Place Trust, after participating
in the highly competitive annual Dragon Boat Race Festival in
Warwick on Sunday [23 May 2010].
The team of 18 lawyers and support staff took part in three
races across the 250 metre stretch of river. While they narrowly
missed a place in the final, the Alsters Kelley team smashed their
sponsorship target of £1,750.
Neil Raiseborough, Partner with the firm and team captain, said:
"I'm very proud our team and other generous individuals managed to
raise this much money for such a worthy charity. It was a fantastic
day and everybody enjoyed themselves. I would like to thank those
who participated, cheered us on and sponsored us."
The Alsters Kelley team also received a large donation from a
client in Long Itchington, who recently celebrated his 80th
birthday. He asked family and friends to donate to Zoe's Place
Trust in place of giving presents.
National director of the charity, Richard Whateley, said: "Zoe's
Place Trust is delighted that Alsters Kelley Solicitors has named
the Coventry Baby Hospice as its charity of the year.
"Funds raised will be split between specific care equipment and
clinical running costs at the Hospice, which is scheduled to open
Autumn this year. On behalf of Zoe's Place I would like to thank
all the Alsters Kelley staff who took part in the Dragon Boat Race
and those who kindly sponsored them."
The funds raised for this event add to the grand total raised by
Alsters Kelley for Zoe's Place Trust. The firm donated £2,451
to the charity in early 2010.
