Nottingham law firm Young & Pearce is offering £500 worth of legal advice to the winner of the "Best Newly Established" category in the 2010 Midlands Family Business Awards.

Young & Pearce was an early supporter of the not-for-profit family business awards initiative, as partner Richard Bates explains:

"We are fortunate to work with many family businesses, both long-established and new, and were very keen to put our backing behind an initiative that seeks to recognise the contribution that these businesses make to our regional economy and wider community.

"Young & Pearce is sponsoring the Best Newly-Established category, which recognises family-owned and run businesses that have been set up since 2006. These new enterprises are the potential Wilkinsons, Dunelms and Pukka Pies of the next decade and we hope that our gesture of a £500 legal fees voucher to the eventual winner of the award will help them in their quest to establish a solid, sound and successful enterprise."

Richard adds: "We are also very grateful to James Timpson, Managing Director of Timpson, for leading the judging panel for the Best Newly Established category. As MD of a successful and thriving family business he will be able to provide some valuable insights and advice to the short-listed businesses."

The Midlands Family Business Awards is a not-for-profit venture, with all proceeds going to charities supporting young enterprise and young people. The winners will be announced at a black tie awards ceremony at Nottinghamshire's Thrumpton Hall on 11 November 2010. Other award categories will recognise: 'Best development of talent', 'Overcoming adversity', 'Personal excellence', 'Development of international markets', 'Business innovation of the year', 'Fastest growing family business', 'Commitment to the community', 'Leading adviser to family businesses', and 'Family business of the year'.
