manager Paul Costello, Riverside's Lynda Cooke and Mansell tenant
liaison officer Tracey Astbury
A special relationship between Riverside, Mansell and two West
Bromwich primary schools has been cemented with a painting
competition aimed at underlining the dangers of construction
sites.
As part of the Sandwell Pathfinder estate regeneration scheme,
Riverside organised a series of art projects for youngsters at
Harvills Hawthorn and Millfields Primary Schools, including working
with Mansell to emphasise the dangers of playing on or around
building sites.
Youngsters took photographs and wrote poems before creating
drawings and paintings of Ivor Goodsite - the Considerate
Constructors scheme mascot. Their artwork has been made into a
series of permanent signs which are now displayed in a special
outside gallery at the entrance to Mansell's site compound in
Peters Street.
Mansell's Stourbridge-based regional Partnership Housing
division is involved in a major housebuilding and improvement
project as part of the Sandwell Pathfinder PFI scheme with Sandwell
Metropolitan Borough Council and Riverside. Both primary schools
are local to the area where the work is taking place.
