A leading figure in the design and manufacture of parts for
prestigious automotive firms has moved to the city.
Magal Engineering has relocated its midlands sales and
engineering offices to the University of Warwick Science Park's
Business Innovation Centre, in Binley, from its previous base in
Leamington Spa.
The company is part of the worldwide Magal Engineering Group
which employs over 700 people and has sites in countries such as
France, Germany, Turkey, India and North America as well as the
UK.
Automotive giants including Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Renault and
Volvo will all have parts designed for manufacture by the Magal
Engineering team based at the Business Innovation Centre after the
company landed several new development and manufacturing
contracts.
Ian Braime, sales director at Magal Engineering, said: "We
decided to move to the Business Innovation Centre because it is a
modern building that presents a professional image.
"It gives us access to the University and it is also ideally
located for us in terms of being near to clients and central for
our staff who travel from each corner of the Midlands to work.
"Our objective from our base at the Business Innovation Centre
is to develop products that will provide us with added value and
sustainable growth while we continue to reduce expense and increase
efficiency in our factories through our expertise in the field of
lean manufacturing."
The company uses computer aided design techniques at the
Business Innovation Centre to design automotive technology
including flow control systems, steering gears, jacks, spare wheel
carriers, mechanical cables, pedal boxes and hand brakes.
These parts are then manufactured at Magal Engineering sites
across the UK and rest of the world.
Founded in 2003, the group prides itself on being a full service
supplier - taking responsibility for everything from the design of
products according to clients' specifications, all the way through
to the manufacture and delivery of the finished product to the
vehicle assembly line.
Karen Aston, centre manager at the University of Warwick's
Business Innovation Centre, said: "We are delighted to add Magal
Engineering to the already impressive array of companies involved
in the automotive sector here at the Business Innovation
Centre.
"We saw many automotive companies leave the area as the industry
suffered in recent years - but the signs here are that it is
showing signs of recovery, and we are delighted to support
that.
"Magal Engineering is a prestigious brand with a proven track
record of delivering quality products to some of the biggest motor
companies in the world and we are proud that it has chosen the
Business Innovation Centre as one of its bases."
