James Jarvis has been re-elected as managing partner of law firm Berryman, for the second consecutive three-year tenure.

Jarvis became managing partner in 2007 but has been with the firm since 1999 when he joined to head up the firm's employment team.

Berryman is regarded as Nottingham's largest single-site corporate and private client firm with 18 partners, 130 staff and an annual turnover of £6.6 million for the latest financial year.

This year, the firm has reviewed its structure to create specialist teams with sector-specific lawyers, as Jarvis explains:

"This year, Berryman has continued to focus on the core sectors to develop new business across our main practice areas. This is an important strategy to refine the firm's core activities, to reflect the sectors in which we have increasing specialism and instructions, and to reinforce our commitment to delivering not only legal excellence but also exemplary client service.

"We have teams in life sciences, headed by partner Scott Farnsworth, healthcare, headed by Roger Harcourt, Technology Media & Telecommunications, headed by Ed Wright, and Rural Economy, headed by Lisa Cawdron.

"One of the main aims for this reorganisation is to build-on Berryman's specialisms through our increased knowledge, expertise and client base. It is our view that by focusing on sectors in this way, we can ensure targeting of our business and sustained development of it, which in turn will help us build on our reputation and profile as a leading provider of legal services in these key, core sectors, ultimately to the benefit our clients."

He adds: "The firm's partners are focused on building on the successes of the last three years, whilst keeping an eye on sustaining our growth, which most recently has seen a high level of contingent work, including litigation."
