The heat was on when four top British chefs sizzled in a
celebrity cook-off at Cotswold House Hotel & Spa in Chipping
Campden.
Diners turned out in force to experience the clash of the
culinary titans as they pit their skills against each other for an
evening of gourmet indulgence at the award-winning restaurant
Juliana's.
Damian Clisby, Executive Head Chef at Cotswold House Hotel
welcomed TV celebrity chef Mark Hix, Savoy-trained Lee Streeton of
Brown's Hotel in Mayfair, and James Golding from Whitley Ridge
Hotel, New Forest, to join him for the friendly challenge.
The result was gastronomic heaven, with guests revelling in the
rarest of treats - an haute cuisine experience with each of the
highly acclaimed chefs responsible for their own mouth-watering
creation.
"This was a wonderful opportunity to experience superb food from
the cream of British chef talent," said Damian.
"Top chefs are always competitive and this was no exception, but
it was done in the very best of humour.
"The atmosphere in both the kitchen and Juliana's restaurant was
fantastic and a great evening was had by all."
Guests indulged in a variety of delicious dishes on Friday,
including a starter of cured salmon with asparagus and fennel from
Mark Hix, poached duck egg with nettle salad created by James
Golding, and trinity burnt cream from Lee Streeton.
But it was Cotswold House Hotel's very own Damian Clisby that
triumphed with his tantalising main course - roast loin of Cornish
lamb, Lebanese-spiced shoulder, aubergine and cumin, pine nut and
red pepper jus.
"There will definitely be a round two," added Damian.
"We've also proved that not all old sayings are correct - too
many cooks don't always spoil the broth."
