& Derbyshire Camping & Caravanning Guide 2010 at The
Friendly Club's Ashbourne Club Site
More and more people are discovering or re-discovering the
pleasures of camping and caravanning - and as the holiday season
gets into full swing, an informative new guide has been launched in
the Peak District and Derbyshire.
The area's official tourist board has teamed up with one of its
key partners, The Camping and Caravanning Club, to produce the
34-page Camping and Caravanning Guide 2010.
As well as tips on how to find the perfect camp site, a full
list of quality graded campsites and their facilities, the 34-page
guide features a useful map showing all seven Camping and
Caravanning Club sites in the area.
There are also useful details of YHA Camping Barns - plus
information about the area's varied landscapes, towns, villages,
key attractions, public transport and tourist information and
visitor centres.
And keen campers can pitch for first prize of a seven-night
holiday for up to four people in a Camping Pod at Rivendale Caravan
Park near Ashbourne or second prize of a Sprayway Gorge 4 dome
design tent in a free-to-enter competition.
"We are delighted to have been able to work so closely with The
Camping and Caravanning Club to produce this full-colour guide with
up-to-date details of quality graded camping and caravanning sites
across the Peak District & Derbyshire," said David James, Chief
Executive at Visit Peak District & Derbyshire.
"As more and more people opt to holiday at home in the UK,
whether for their main holiday or for more frequent short breaks,
it's a mine of information for anyone wanting to pitch their tent
or park their caravan or motor home at a wide variety of
value-for-money locations in the area."
Matthew Eastlake, The Club's Marketing and Communications
Director, added: "We have a large presence of Club Sites,
Certificated Sites and Listed Sites within the Peak District and
Derbyshire - and from our advanced bookings, it looks as though
this season could be just as busy, if not busier, than last year,
which is great news for the outdoor industry as a whole.
"People - and in particular families - are still opting for a
camping and caravanning holiday in this country rather than
travelling abroad, citing the positive UK weather predictions for
the next decade, affordability, concerns over the environment and
wider concerns about travel safety as reasons for wanting to stay
closer to home."
Copies of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire's Camping &
Caravanning Guide 2010 are available at Tourist Information Centres
in and around the area. They will also be on offer at the tourist
board's promotional stands at the Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair,
Kedleston Hall, near Derby this weekend (May 22 and 23), BBC
Gardeners World Live, NEC Birmingham from June 16 to 20; Derbyshire
County Show at Elvaston Castle Country Park on Sunday June 27 and
Bakewell Show on August 4 and 5.
