Coventry and Warwickshire law firm Alsters Kelley has recruited
an associate solicitor to expand the family department and
specialise in public law care proceedings.
Catherine Stephens has worked in the field for 14 years and has
experience with High Court advocacy. She has also previously worked
in public law care proceedings as head of the care litigation team
and feels this knowledge helps her better understand the system
from all perspectives.
Catherine said: "Having worked for both private clients and the
Government in this area of the law, I've been able to gain a
thorough understanding of the entire legal system and all the
considerations involved in the proceedings."
Erica Kemp, head of family law and a partner at Alsters Kelley
said: "Catherine is bringing a new dimension to the family
department - her experience from both sides of the law in respect
of child care matters means she is able to offer clients honest and
well-assessed advice."
Catherine said: "At a time when many practices have stopped
working in this area of the law because of financial pressures,
Alsters Kelley recognises the importance of supporting the
community with this service. It may not be the biggest fee
earner but it's hugely important that vulnerable children and
families within our society have the legal representation they
require to ensure the law finds an appropriate solution to their
situations"
Catherine Stephens will be based in Coventry but can also
arrange to see clients in the Leamington Spa office. The firm also
has offices Nuneaton.
