Drivers Jonas Deloitte has been named the professional agency
team of the year and the office agency team of the year at the 2010
Property Week Awards.
The double win reinforces the firm's strength within the
property advisory market and recognises the value of these
prestigious awards in the global downturn. In 2009, Drivers Jonas
Deloitte continued to win market share and remained highly regarded
for its professionalism, ideas and energy in a challenging market.
The firm recorded profit and remained debt free with a total
turnover in 2008/09 of £95.6m.
Nick Shepherd, managing partner of Drivers Jonas Deloitte, said:
"It is a great tribute to the firm to have won two awards in one
year. The professional agency award was in recognition of the
breadth of our professional practice, the quality of our client
base and assignments, and the financial performance of the firm
over 2009."
Philippa Pickavance, head of agency for Drivers Jonas Deloitte
in Birmingham commented: "Winning these awards was due to the
combination of the agency team's countrywide and steady activity
across the office markets, despite dire market conditions during
2009. Transactions ranged from the very large to the more day to
day. In London we acted for Nomura, where as advisers on its
property strategy, following its purchase of Lehman Brothers in
Europe, we carried out the acquisition of the UK's largest office
deal last year, the iconic 540,000 sq ft Watermark Place in EC4. In
Birmingham agency work on letting and acquiring space for clients
included renegotiating a very competitive deal for Browne Jacobson
with their existing landlord at Victoria Square House, giving them
significantly reduced occupation costs and letting space on
Birmingham Business Park for INVESCO.
"Our entry submission also detailed new ideas and innovations
including the firm's in-house tenant database 'Blood Hound', a
system that records enquiries and their details. This focus,
combined with dedicated research, has helped us grow the business
and ensure landlord and occupier clients alike are attracted to
Drivers Jonas Deloitte because we truly understand occupiers."
Drivers Jonas Deloitte beat off competition in both award
categories from entrants including CB Richard Ellis, Jones Lang
LaSalle, Knight Frank, Richard Susskind, Savills, BNP Paribas Real
Estate, Briant Champion Long, Colliers CRE, DTZ - Property
Management, King Sturge, Nash Bond and The Lorenz Consultancy.
The influential award ceremony was held in The Great Room at the
Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, London on Tuesday 27 April 2010.
The event was attended by 1,300 industry guests who were
entertained by comedian John Bishop and the awards themselves were
handed out by presenter Chris Evans.
The award submissions recognised Drivers Jonas LLP as a property
adviser during the 12 months ending November 2009. In March 2010
Drivers Jonas LLP, the oldest firm of real estate advisors in the
world, merged with Deloitte LLP, the business advisory firm. The
merger created one of the largest real estate businesses in Europe,
with a "Drivers Jonas Deloitte" group of around 700 partners and
staff.
