Derwent Living is bidding farewell to its board chairman Duncan
Smith after three years at the helm.
Duncan, 69, will be retiring from the board at the Derby-based
housing provider's AGM in June. Duncan has been with Derwent Living
for nine years.
Duncan said of his retirement: "I shall miss the buzz that goes
with business at Derwent Living, and the energy that its staff
bring to their roles. The way staff and directors have responded to
changes in the housing sector has been impressive.
"I have been extremely fortunate in being able to work with
board members who not only have a formidable range of skills, but
also have a deeply caring approach to the work we do. The
professionalism and humour I have met in my time at Derwent Living
has given me enormous pleasure.
"It also offers reassurance for the future as I hand over to my
successor. Like other sectors of the economy, housing is bracing
itself for difficult times. Derwent Living's ability to innovate
and a strong financial base gives it confidence for the future, and
my best wishes go to my colleagues and the new Chair."
Peter McCormack, chief executive of Derwent Living said: "Duncan
has made a very positive contribution to Derwent Living during his
time on the board and his calm reassured style has guided the
company through a year of great change. He is truly a valued team
member and leader and we will miss him. I personally would like to
wish him all the best in his retirement."
