The Ipex exhibition has kicked off the summer on Broad Street
and what proves to be a very lucrative coming year for the
street.
The international technology exhibition, being held at the NEC,
has seen an estimated 75,000 visitors arrive in the city - many of
which are resident in Broad Street's variety of hotels which are
full to their 5,000 capacity during the event's eight day run.
Restaurants are another prime feature of Broad Street and
Brindleyplace, offering the widest variety of cuisines available to
the visitors to Ipex. Many of the restaurants are having their best
trading week of the year and are seeing the event as an exciting
start to the summer season.
This boom in business is spread fast and wide up the golden
mile. Cineworld are set to start their run of summer blockbusters,
the major new production 'Noises Off' is currently at the Rep
Theatre, and of course the World Cup kicks off next month.
Recent investment in the area has also seen three new tenants
sign up in Eleven Brindleyplace, Carluccio's announce their plans
to open a new delicatessen and cafe at Water's Edge and the recent
opening of the new lounge bar Nuvo.
Allan Sartori, Marketing Director of the Broad Street Business
Improvement District, commented: "Ipex has given the area a
fantastic launch pad for the coming months. With all the new
investment we're seeing, the opening of Nuvo and the fantastic
events coming over the summer this is set continue. Let's not
forget the Prime Minister is also visiting our great city in
October!"
