Work costing over £2 million to build extra bedrooms and
improve facilities for elderly people with dementia at two homes in
Nottingham will start this spring.
Elder Homes Group will begin the construction of a 23-bedroom
extension at Millington Springs in Portland Road, Selston, on April
10.
The £1.7 million development will also lead to the
creation of 40 new full and part-time jobs for carers and nurses as
well as kitchen and domestic staff.
The company, which is being financially backed by Yorkshire
Bank's Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) in Leicester, is also
adding eight more bedrooms at 82-bedroom Eton Park in Owthorpe
Road, Cotgrave.
The £400,000 development will lead to between 20 and 30
new jobs and work will get underway in May.
David Messenger, managing director of Elder Homes Group, said
the new specialist care facilities had been designed for residents
with dementia.
"Sadly, there appears to be a need to provide care for an
increasing number of residents with dementia," he said.
"Millington Springs provides general nursing and respite care
for our residential clients and we will be increasing our number of
bedrooms from 37 to 60.
"The extensions at both homes will mean we can provide luxury
en-suite bedrooms with plasma televisions, a state-of-the-art
lounge, a new dining room and a sensory room and Eton Park will
also have beautiful landscaped gardens for residents and their
guests to enjoy sitting in.
"Both developments are due to be completed by this winter and it
will mean we will be able to provide an even better quality of life
for our residents."
Brian Burton, business banking partner at Yorkshire Bank in New
Walk, Leicester, said the bank had approved the banking facilities
for both extensions.
"This is a well-established company that is growing and the two
extensions will take the number of beds across the group to 826 in
their 15 homes across the UK," he said.
"These projects will add valuable comfort to people at a time in
their lives when they need it the most and will ensure the Elder
Homes Group continues to provide high standards of nursing
care."
