Lovers of real ale are helping to fund good causes thanks to the
Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent and Titanic Brewery.
Stoke-on-Trent Centenary Ale was launched earlier this year to
help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the federation of the six
towns of the Potteries. The beer is produced by Titanic Brewery and
was commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
A donation of 10 pence to the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent's
charity fund for every pint or bottle sold and £209.20 has
been raised so far.
Dave Bott, Director of Titanic Brewery presented the Lord Mayor
of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Jean Bowers, with a cheque for the
first two months of donations on Monday, 19 May.
He said: "We are proud of our breweries links with the city and
were honoured to be asked to produce a special centenary ale by the
city council.
"Our brewery is named in recognition of the fact that Edward
Smith, Master of the Titanic came from Stoke-on-Trent and our
bottled beers carry the slogan "Shipped from the Potteries."
Dave also presented the Lord Mayor with a case of Titanic Beer
to assist her fund raising efforts. Cllr. Bowers has chosen to
support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Child Victims of Crime
during her year in office.
Councillor Bowers said: "I am really pleased that the city
council has teamed up with the Titanic brewery to raise money for
these important charities. I hope we continue to raise money
throughout the rest of this Centenary year."
The beer will be available in bottle and on draught at various
outlets in the city throughout 2010.
