Online accounting systems are the way forward for SMEs and start-up businesses, says leading Midland chartered accountants Prime.

Laurence Moore, chairman of Prime which has offices in Solihull and Coventry, said: "Online accounting allows costs to be kept to a minimum at the same time as providing all the financial information needed to run a business.

"And that information is accessible wherever there is an internet connection, avoiding the need to wait until returning to the office.

"It also means accountants can remotely log into the system to provide help".

Traditional accounting systems are cost prohibitive and in recent years the online accounting marketplace has opened up with many operating a 'pay as you go' plan.

Laurence Moore said: "Online accounting systems are flexible and add value to the business and they don't need a huge investment up front".
