UK Gear, the Warwickshire based designers and developers of high
performance athletic footwear and apparel, has won approval to
supply advanced specification training shoes to the US Army.
These specialised UK Gear running shoes, selected by the US
Army, were designed and developed in association with the British
Army.
The approval by the US Army centres on the PT-03 running shoe,
which has been the subject of a rigorous year long test as part of
the US Army's Running Shoe Program. The final selection report on
the shoe was conclusive, stating: '…the overall quality and
durability of the UK Gear shoes is what makes them so well suited
to the military training environment.'
Commenting on the agreement with the US Army David Hinde, UK
Gear's founder and Chief Executive, said: "This highly prized
approval is the successful culmination of three years' intensive
work and I am delighted that PT-03 running shoe born from our
unique relationship with the British Army Physical Training Corps
has been chosen by the US Army."
He added: "It has given us particular pleasure that a training
shoe worn by the British Army should be adopted by the US military.
It is, at the same time, a giant step for UK Gear on the way to
meeting our ambition of being the training shoe of choice for
military personnel worldwide"
Over the coming year the UK Gear PT-03 shoes will be distributed
across the US Army's reception centres and is expected to be worth
in excess of $10 million in export sales.
