Staff at a Leicester-based transport company are celebrating a
prestigious national award.
Mitchell Storage and Distribution fended off strong competition
from 65 counterparts across the UK to be crowned International
Depot of the Year in the annual awards organised by the Fortec
Pallet Distribution Network and held at the Holiday Inn, in
Stratford-upon-Avon, on Saturday.
The company, based on the East Goscote Industrial Estate, was
first formed with just one van in 1996 by Managing Director Bill
Mitchell.
Today it employs a 15-strong workforce and operates a fleet of
eight, serving 90 clients across the Leicester area.
Although all Mitchell's clients are UK based the company started
European shipments two years ago.
The number of shipments has continued to steadily grow and in
the three months up to the middle of April Mitchell's has shipped
500 pallets across Europe.
Bill Mitchell, who today runs the company with son Glenn, said:
"We are delighted to have been presented with this award from
Fortec. We joined the Network about 18 months ago and in that time
the business has continued to grow and the partnership with Fortec
has continued to strengthen."
Neil Hodgson, Managing Director of Fortec, added:
"Congratulations to Bill, Glenn and the team at Mitchells on their
success in this year's awards. The company is highly respected
among the licensees within the Fortec Pallet Network and this award
is testament to the company's achievement over the past 12 months
and particularly in the last three months."
