The employment team at law firm Berryman is running a free breakfast workshop to provide regional employers with a vital and timely update on the new employment laws for 2010.

The latest in the firm's programme of employment law training sessions, the workshop will cover the new and imminent employment issues that will most challenge businesses over the next 12-months, as head of employment Ginny Hallam explains:

"With the raft of new employment legislation that is in force or about to be introduced it's vital that employers know how to deal with the new rules practically and to their advantage, where possible."

The session will cover the impact of the new 'fit notes' which replaced the 'sick note' scheme on the 6th April; the ramifications of the Equality Bill; when employers must agree to an employee's training request and how to go about refusing one; how and when employees can take extended paternity leave; the new regulations that safeguard vulnerable adults; legal representation for employees at a disciplinary hearing; the impact on the business of the new holiday laws; and what the new agency workers regulations mean in practice.

The free 'Need to know' Employment Law briefing takes place at Berryman's offices on Friar Lane, Nottingham, on Thursday 13th May 2010, from 8.15am to 10.00am, and includes breakfast. For more information and to reserve a place, contact Senita Vohra, Tel: 0845 310 7251, email: senita.vohra@berryman.co.uk, or register online at www.berryman.co.uk/events.
