Transport and industry training specialist C&G Services has
appointed two ex-Army recruits to the ranks of its training
team.
Darren Richardson has joined as an instructor on HGV and PSV
vehicles. He will also be working on ADR (dangerous goods)
legislation, Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
and PSV (passenger service vehicle) training.
Darren spent 22 years with the Army, serving with the
Gloucestershire Regiment and the Worcestershire and Sherwood
Foresters before retiring from service in 2005. He has wide
experience in instruction on heavy goods and passenger vehicles.
His appointment follows C&G Services' success in gaining
Government approval to provide training under the new CPC scheme,
introduced in 2008 to raise driving standards among commercial
drivers.
The new ADR legislation requires all drivers carrying harmful
substances to undergo five days of training. C&G is the only
company in Gloucestershire accredited to provide training to
address the new laws.
Jason Brookes, who has also completed 22 years' Army service,
has been appointed for his construction and civil engineering
skills. Jason completed two tours in Iraq, two in Aghanistan and
one in Bosnia. He gained wide experience in operating excavators,
tippers, bulldozers, rock crushers and other plant on projects in
Kenya and the Middle East.
His experience has prepared him for leading SMSTS courses (Site
Management Safety Training Scheme) and roads & streetworks
courses.
Jason was pleased to discover that at C&G he will be working
with his old friend and colleague Ian Ison, who joined the firm a
year ago - Jason was Ian's warrant officer with the Royal Engineers
in Afghanistan.
