mechanical and electrical division.
The Derby-based housing provider has appointed Matthew
Whittaker-Stokes to oversee the day to day running of its
mechanical and electrical divisions. In his new role he will be
responsible for the client management of the gas servicing,
mechanical and electrical service areas and will provide
improvement maintenance and servicing of mechanical and electrical
appliances to all Derwent Living homes.
Matthew joins Derwent Living with ten years experience in the
housing industry and has worked for Derbyshire County Council,
Derby City Council, Derby Homes and Nottingham City Homes.
After starting his career as an apprentice plumber at Derbyshire
County Council, Matthew worked his way up and progressed through
the ranks to become maintenance operations manager for Derby Homes
where he was responsible for overseeing all the services divisions
including maintenance and repairs.
Most recently, Matthew worked for Nottingham City Homes, where
he oversaw the extensive heating works being done as the
organisation worked towards the Decent Homes programme.
Matthew said of his appointment: "I am excited about the
prospect of working for Derwent Living. Up until this point my
career has been focused on affordable housing and I am looking
forward to the new and varied opportunities that working for a
company like Derwent Living will present me with. I have, and still
am, extremely passionate about affordable housing, but I wanted to
look at new ventures in the commercial sector and think my new role
will mean I can find a balance between the social and commercial
sectors.
"I think I will be able to bring a great deal to the role in
terms of my experience gained at a large organisation such as
Nottingham City Homes, but I look forward to the fresh challenge of
dealing with a more dispersed profile of properties across the
region."
