Everyone in business knows the importance of a good mentor. If
you're an early-stage entrepreneur, it's easy to feel alone toiling
over your business plan and making your first tentative steps into
the world of self employment.
Which is why some could accuse the three start-ups featured on
Notts-based www.inafishbowl.com of being a little greedy!
Not content with one mentor each, the three start-ups are now
being 'virtually' mentored online by mentors including ex Dragon's
Den stars Rachel Elnaugh and Imran Hakim, Channel 4's Secret
Millionaire and dot com whiz kid Ben Way to name but a few!
The East Midlands start-up businesses Rico Mexican Kitchen,
Sharabang and Head & Griffiths have all signed up be part of a
new project, www.inafishbowl.com which profiles the warts-and-all
trials and tribulations of their businesses in full view of the
start-up community. Viewers can learn the lessons of starting a
business through observing other start-ups in real-time through
video, blogs and live Twitter feeds which are all displayed on the
website.
The site has recently re-launched to include commentary from
expert mentors and celebrity entrepreneurs who have been quick to
sign up to share their wisdom with the new businesses.
Founder and entrepreneur Toby Reid says, "The three
businesses are brave to take part in this web project as it's very
exposed but I'm sure they won't be regretting it once they start to
benefit from the advice and expertise that these mentors can
provide. Everyone involved in the project has started their own
business, so we know the difficulties involved in the process and
we're all secretly quite jealous of the opportunity they have to
benefit from the input of some great mentors!"
